The beautiful adaptation of Thomas Hardy’s classic Far From The Madding Crowd, starring Carey Mulligan as the headstrong heroine Bathsheba Everdene, is out now on Digital HD, and arrives on Blu-ray and DVD on Monday 31 August. To mark the release, we’ve teamed up with Visit Dorset to give away a weekend for two in a luxury cottage set in the heart of Hardy country, where the breathtaking film was shot.
One lucky winner and their guest will stay at Symondsbury Estate Holidays’ Duck Street Cottage in Symondsbury village, with beautiful walks straight from your front door. We’re also throwing in travel, dinner for two at the 16th-century Acorn Inn in the chocolate-box village of Evershot, which appears in Hardy’s Tess of the d’Urbervilles as The Sow and the Acorn.
You’ll also receive passes to Hardy’s Cottage, where he was born and wrote Far From The Madding Crowd, and Mapperton House, a gorgeous Jacobean manor house, which became Everdene Farm for the film. We can’t think of a better way to spend a weekend.
